What I've Learned

Through the years I've learned A LOT! Most of what I have learned are life lessons and the other half are things that I tend to shake my head at or in the world of the web we like to refer to that as "SMH".

Here's just a few samplings as to what I've learned:

I've learned that when a man asks you where something is, if it's not "exactly" in that spot and it doesn't jump out at him, he won't bother to look further for it.

I've learned that it takes children to grow up to mature adults until they realize their own parents aren't stupid. I too was a teenager once before.

I''ve learned that your kids do think they know it all but will still call you for advice.

I've learned that "Lifetime" movies do really make me cry.

I've learned that "OnDemand" was created for parents so they can spend waking hours with their children playing games, reading books and all around quality time.

I've learned that family doesn't always have to be blood family.

I've learned that you can't change people, a person can and will only change for himself or herself.

I've learned that your dreams aren't always the same dreams as your children's.

I've learned to pick my battles and learn what's important in a fight.

I've learned to walk away.

I've learned that positive reinforcement works better than anything.

I've learned that it takes more emotion to hate than it does to love.

I've learned not to worry over things I can't control.

I've learned that there's a difference between being heard and being listened to.

I've learned not to ask "how do I look" in an outfit. If I like it and if I feel good in it, that's all that matters.

I've learned that if someone is gossiping to me about someone or something, then that person will do it to someone else about me or someone else.

I've learned not to get into heated conversations with my brother about politics.

I've learned that age is just a number. You're only as old as you feel.

I've learned I'm not defined by my disease. I'm defined by who I am and what I stand for.

I've learned no one is normal.

I've learned that color, creed, ethnic background, etc; none of that matters. Only the person themselves matter in whole.

I've learned that a boy who treats his mother like a queen will treat his wife the same way.

I've learned that I'm a more patient mom the 2nd time around. Age has done that to me.

I've learned that my bestest friends love me regardless.

I've learned that sometimes you just have to "let go".

I've learned that children are mirrors and sponges.

I've learned that no matter how bad I'm feeling, ice cream makes me feel a bit better.
