Life's Lessons

As we grow up we hear all sorts of comments our parents say; mainly from our mothers. Later in life we tend to tell ourselves that we'll never turn into our mothers/parents and we'll definitely never say those HORRID things that she/they said to us.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane and remember some of those comments and/or cliches that were once said to us that we swore to never repeat (I'm sure we've said a few of these)

* When someone falls and gets hurt  - "well that's what you get" (mimi's favorite saying)

* What part of NO don’t you understand?

* Do as I say, not as I do.

* Straighten up and fly right (still trying to figure out what this really means)

 * Don't go out with a wet head, you'll catch cold. (mimi's famous line)

* Don't pick your nose in public. (because it's better to pick it at home?)

* I brought you into this world, and I can take you right back out!(famous!)

* I hope someday you have a child just like you. (curse came true; thanks MOM!)

* If I've told you once ... I've told you a thousand times. (if I had a dollar for every time, I'd be rich today!)

 * If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

* I'm going to give you until the count of three...1, 2, 2 1/2....3 (LMBO!!!)

* Money does NOT grow on trees. Really???

 * You make my blood boil (real health condition - ha!)

Life has many lessons as we grow. Many of the lessons could be avoided if we only listened to our wise elders. But as teenagers and young adults we want to live and learn rather than listen and learn. Boundaries are broke rather than followed. Advice is given but can't be forced upon. Dreams are wished upon but can only be followed if desired. We can only help those that wish to be helped. Love is unconditional regardless; as that's what a parent is supposed to do. This is the school of hard Knox.
