On Monday, June 10, 2013, I had my 2 month rheumy check up. I really look forward to my rheumy appointments. That may sound ludicrous. Not many people look forward to going to the doctor, but I adore my rheumatologist. He's a good doctor, has a good bedside manner, his staff is kind, and most of all he listens to me and talks to me.
On this particular visit we were talking about sports. This time of year hockey season is wrapping up and nearing the Stanley Cup. He is as much an avid hockey fan as I am. What a thrill it is to have a doctor that will sit an talk with his patient about random stuff.
After our talk he sent his nurse in for my regular blood work-up and UA. On Wednesday I received a phone call from my nurse telling me my labs were extremely bad and I needed to repeat my labs on Friday. I wondered, "how bad can they be"? My labs have generally been bad. I have repeated then quite often but never this soon.
My on-line labs were ready to view later on Wednesday and after reviewing them I saw my doctors concern. Although I don't have a medical degree, I have been accustomed to reading labs and knowing what the codes mean. I was shocked to see how bad the labs were.
When Friday morning arrived I left the house early with the boys. I figured the earlier I left, the earlier my doctor would receive the results. My doctor called me about three hours later to tell me the results of my labs looked better. I was pleased! He said his main concern was Benlysta was bringing my labs down so low and creating mayhem within my system rather than doing good for me. That was such a relief!
Sunday, June 17, 2013, I received an email notification that my on-line labs were ready to view. These were the same labs I had done on Friday, June 14th. I honestly had the best laugh when I saw these labs! Yes, the labs were better than they had been from Monday the 10th, but they are still SO LOW!
It made me laugh because even though the labs were low, they're better! I honestly have to look on the bright side of everything. It could be worse! It's like walking on sunshine~
